Hiking schedule for the Maryland

Homeschool Hiking Club

Jan. and Feb. –

  none scheduled…will do on  a day to day basis  due to the weather

 

March-  

Wed. March 4^th- Antietam Battlefield meet at Burnside Bridge 1:00

 

April-

Wed. April the 2^nd. Cornfield Hike. Meet at dunker church at 1:30

 

Wed. April 9^th. Meet at the Thompson Gas Co. in Boonsboro. We will be going to the C and O canal Towpath near Harpers Ferry and hiking into Harpers Ferry for the day. Some of us will be leaving cars in Harpers Ferry for the ride back to the meeting place.

 

May-

1^st Wed. in May. C and o canal tow path. Meet at Snyder’s Landing in Snyder’s Landing in Sharpsburg. Will hike towards Taylor’s Landing.

 

Last Wed. of the Month…We will be participating in the National Homeschool Hike/bike event that takes place all across the US and in a few other countries as well. It is always held the last full week in May. We will be meeting at The Rail Trail Parking Lot off I70 at the Clearspring exit ( go toward the Fort Fredrick way) at 2:00. We will be combining with the Maryland Homeschool biking club in our area on this one. We will go to the old cemetery and return to our vehicles. This is not too far and safe for all ages to participate in. You may go farther if you choose.

 

June-

 

Meet at the Parking lot just over the Fredrick Co. line for the Appalachian Trail. We will be hiking on the AT.  Some may go to George Washington Monument and others may hike to a point and return to their vehicles.  Meet at 10:00 am.

 

July-

 

1^st Wed. Antietam Battlefield. Cornfield hike See the difference in the field from the previous hike there in the spring. Meet at Dunkard Church at 2:00

 

August-

 

Meet to go to the Appalachian trail. We will be camping in one of the trail buildings and then hiking the next morning. We will hike into the camping place...about 1/3 mile.

Meet at Family Dollar in Smithsburg at 3:00.

 

Sept.

 

Camping and hiking on Assateague Island With the Western Maryland Homeschool Association.

Dates: Sept 6^th to the 11. Price: splitting of the 15.00 registration fee and then $2.00 per night per person.

Tents only! No alcohol allowed! This will be in the youth group area site number 1.  No pets. No generators. Each family brings their own everything. If you want to attend and don’t have camping stuff, please let Earlene know: westernmarylandhomeschool@hotmail.com
